Outdoor showers and lockers available. Snack bar, giftshop,
carousel, and playground. Newport Exploration Center is
located on the beach; call 732-3520 for program info. Carousel
open daily 10 a.m.-6 p.m. from Memorial Day to Labor Day,
costs 50¢. Special events each Tuesday evenings, such
as Family Night concerts (6:30 p.m.). Thursday evenings
feature a children's show. Close to restaurants and sports
shops.
King Park
Wellington Avenue, Newport
Small beach with lifeguards on duty 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
June 16 through Labor Day. Free parking on Wellington Avenue.

Sachuset Beach ("Second Beach")
Third Beach Rd., Middletown
Three miles of sand beach, popular with surfers. Lifeguards
on duty 8 a.m.-6 p.m. May 27 - Sept. 4. Borders a wildlife
refuge. Restrooms, outdoor showers, concession stand.

Small, calm sandy beach where the Sakonnet River meets the
ocean.
Sandy Point Beach
Sandy Point Ave., Portsmouth
Located on the Sakonnet River. Restrooms, picnic tables,
grills. Open 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Memorial Day through Labor Day.
Mackerel Cove Beach
Beavertail Road, Jamestown
Smaller, protected sandy beach. Sand bar, calm water. Restroom
facilities available.
