This cozy 1750 colonial inn, located in downtown Newport, serves a full homemade breakfast and delicious afternoon treats. David Melville, the inventor of the gas street lamp, once owned the inn, which is now on the National Register of Historic Places. The inn sits opposite the Vernon House, which once hosted French General Rochambeau and George Washington, and is neighbor to the 1741 Newport Artillery Company.
